Takelot launches unlimited free delivery subscription service in South Africa – BusinessTech

Online retailer Takealot has welcomed Amazon.co.za to South Africa by launching a new monthly subscription service, TakealotMORE, which will offer free delivery on purchases.

The service will have two tiers: a R39 per month standard subscription and a R99 per month premium service.

Both packages offer unlimited free deliveries, but the cheaper subscription has this limited to next-day deliveries only, with the R500 order minimum in tow.

The premium package has unlimited free same-day (R500 minimum) and next-day (no limit) deliveries, as well as free deliveries on weekends.

The service also extends to collections and select Mr D orders.

Takealot said the TakealotMORE service will offer a free 7-day trial and the option to cancel at any time.

The service has already launched on Takealot’s website, with plans to start rolling out on the Takealot App on 13 May.

Takealot Group CEO, Frederik Zietsman, said the service was tiered to be budget-friendly, while hinting that additional perks for TakealotMORE would be introduced for subscribers in the near future.

He said the service would be “ever-evolving”.

The launch of the Takealot subscription service follows Amazon launching its South African operations this week, which has drawn many comparisons between the two behemoths in terms of product offerings, delivery costs and delivery times.

Comparisons done by MyBroadband show that both platforms will compete in a tight space.
