Sekhukhune: Man, Wife, and Another Killed Outside Burgersfort Police Station

Polokwane – A man, his wife, and another individual were found dead from gunshot wounds in the yard of the Burgersfort Police Station in the Sekhukhune District of Limpopo.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the bodies were discovered after gunfire erupted in the early hours, around 02:35, on Sunday, 14 September 2025.

“Officers on duty reportedly heard multiple gunshots coming from the premises,” said Colonel Ledwaba.

“Upon their arrival, they found a 28-year-old woman lying near two vehicles with gunshot wounds.”

“Additionally, they located her husband, a 31-year-old man, nearby, also suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.”

“A third victim, a 39-year-old woman, was also discovered at the scene with similar injuries.”

Paramedics were dispatched immediately and declared the 31-year-old man and the 39-year-old woman dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old woman was transported to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased man was married to the injured woman.

There is suspicion that he may have taken his own life.

Authorities are also investigating the reasons behind the 39-year-old woman’s presence at the location.

During the investigation, police recovered a firearm along with ammunition and spent cartridges.

Murder, attempted murder, and an inquest cases have been opened.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, expressed deep shock at the incident and has directed that the investigations be expedited to uncover all details of the event.

Colonel Ledwaba mentioned that the police in Limpopo have launched a thorough investigation into this troubling shooting incident.
