Roy Keane criticizes Altay Bayindir, the temporary goalkeeper, after a mistake in the Newcastle game: ‘This is serious business’

ROY KEANE unleashed a scathing critique, stating, “this is big boy stuff,” as he slammed Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir for his blunder against Newcastle.

The Turkish shot-stopper was inserted into Ruben Amorim’s lineup on Sunday after Andre Onana’s lackluster performance against Lyon.

Bayindir made a critical mistake leading to Newcastle’s final goal

This marked Bayindir’s inaugural Premier League start for United, following a £4 million move from Fenerbahce last summer.

However, the 26-year-old had a nightmarish performance at St James’ Park as Newcastle cruised to a 4-1 victory.

Bayindir conceded three goals within the first 64 minutes.

Things took a turn for the worse just 13 minutes later when he attempted a disastrous short kick from his box.

Joelinton intercepted the ball and forwarded it to fellow Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle’s captain dispatched the ball past Bayindir, sealing a miserable afternoon for the United goalkeeper.

Post-match, former Red Devils captain Keane directed his ire at Amorim’s second-in-command.

He asserted that Bayindir lacked the judgment required to operate at this level.

Despite the goalkeeper’s limited game time, his performance underscored his struggle to react swiftly enough for the Premier League.

Keane commented: “Of course (he was at fault). It all goes back to the decision-making. I’m not even certain what the advantage (of making that pass) would be. It’s far too risky.

Keane asserted that Bayindir’s decision-making is not adequate

“It’s undoubtedly too risky. There are players surrounding you. At the elite level, decision-making is critical.

“I’m often quick to defend keepers when they debut since I believe several games are needed to acclimatize to the shots. However, that elementary blunder is perplexing.

“This is big boy stuff. You’re playing against Newcastle, who are in form, and it’s essential to do your homework on the opposition and their pressing strategies.

“If you opt for a long kick, ensure it goes far enough up the pitch.

“But if it’s a loss in that area, someone is on goal right in front of you. That’s just common sense.”

Fellow analyst Les Ferdinand shared Keane’s sentiments, adding: “It reflects what we’re witnessing from keepers these days – being overly precise, trying to be too clever.

“Just clear it! Recognize that you’re 3-1 down and don’t let it become 4-1 due to a foolish mistake. Yet, he goes ahead and attempts a weak pass to the forward.

“I constantly find myself thinking: ‘what are you doing?’”

Man Utd ratings vs Newcastle as Zirkzee performs well before injury but Onana’s replacement has a shocking outing

MANCHESTER UNITED’s worst-ever Premier League season was confirmed with a 4-1 defeat to Newcastle.

The Red Devils are now certain to finish with fewer than 56 points, which would be their lowest total in Premier League history.

And they can only achieve that mark if they win ALL of their remaining six matches.

If not cautious, they could slip to 17th place – just one spot above the relegation zone.

This was yet another grim day that symbolizes a dire campaign for United as Newcastle effortlessly tore into them during the second half.

Ruben Amorim opted to bench keeper Andre Onana after his woeful display against Lyon earlier that week.

However, substitute Altay Bayindir also had a match to forget.

Goals netted by Sandro Tonali, two from Harvey Barnes, and a strike from Bruno Guimaraes overshadowed Alejandro Garnacho’s lone goal.
