Moscow to Trial New Metro Train Prototype: The Moskva-2026

Moscow – The Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry, Maksim Liksutov, has revealed that efforts are underway to initiate test runs for the next-generation metro train, the Moskva-2026.

Maksim Liksutov mentioned that trial operations, which will not include passengers, could potentially commence as early as 2025.

Should the trials prove successful, the trains are anticipated to enter full operation in 2026, with Line 2 being the first to benefit from this innovation.

The Moskva-2026 train is currently under development, and we expect to receive the initial test units by the end of this year.

“These trials are a vital step to ensure that the trains can start transporting passengers by 2026,” declared Maksim Liksutov.

“Line 2 will be the first to feature the new rolling stock, as part of the city’s overarching initiative to modernise its metro system.”
