Reports from Spain indicate that the Argentine defender is once again a primary target for Diego Simeone, with Atletico planning an initial bid of around £26 million for the Spurs captain.
At 28, Romero has caught the eye of several prominent clubs in Europe after another stellar season in North London and a noteworthy performance in the World Cup this summer.
