GOOD Party, RISE Mzansi, and Build One South Africa Collaborate to Launch ‘Unite For Change’

Johannesburg – Three political organizations – Build One South Africa (BOSA), the GOOD Party, and RISE Mzansi – have come together to form the “Unite for Change” party.

In a joint statement released on Sunday, October 5, 2025, the parties asserted: “Today, three national political groups and their leaders have heeded the nation’s call, set aside their differences, and begun the journey to forge an alliance for citizens to unite for change and hope within South Africa’s communities.”

The announcement elaborated: “We are thrilled to introduce Unite for Change, a new political party and movement that will participate in the 2026 Local Government Elections under one united banner.”

“The founding entities consist of Build One South Africa (BOSA), the GOOD Party, and RISE Mzansi.”

“We are united for change under a single name, a cohesive set of electoral lists, a shared platform, and a common purpose.”

This new political organization will be registered with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), and any future parties that join will campaign under this new name and banner.

The Founding Leaders’ Council is made up of a diverse and experienced leadership team that recognizes that true strength comes from a unified purpose.

The Leaders’ Council includes Dr. Mmusi Maimane MP, Minister Patricia de Lille MP, Songezo Zibi MP, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster MP, MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa MPL, and Brett Herron MPP.

“This represents a fresh opportunity for voters, providing a credible and consolidated alternative to the limited options currently available on South African ballots,” the statement emphasized.

“The newly established party is firmly rooted in the foundational values of social justice, non-racialism, anti-corruption, and constitutionalism, in line with South Africa’s social democratic and constitutional ideals,” the statement further noted.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by the three founding parties specifies that the National Executive Committee will implement a candidate selection model that prioritizes merit-based options across all candidate lists.

This model will emphasize significantly encouraging individuals to stand for election as councillors who are recognized within their communities and accountable to them.

“We encourage aspiring councillor candidates, especially newcomers, to step forward and help revitalize towns and cities across the nation,” the statement invited.
