Durban CBD: Fatal Accident Involving Minibus Taxi, Bakkie, and Car Claims Life of Ejected Passenger
Durban – A man in his sixties sadly lost his life this morning after being ejected from a minibus taxi during a collision involving two other vehicles at the intersection of Anton Lembede Street and Dorothy Nyembe Street in the Durban CBD.
As per ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the accident, which involved multiple vehicles, took place around 06:00 on Saturday morning.
“Upon arrival, paramedics encountered chaos and destruction, discovering that a taxi, a bakkie, and a light motor vehicle had collided at the intersection, resulting in two vehicles veering off the roadway,” Jamieson stated.
“A thorough triage was performed on-site, indicating that a male, believed to be in his sixties, had been thrown from the taxi and regrettably sustained fatal injuries.
“Sadly, there was nothing more paramedics could do, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Jamieson further noted that two other individuals suffered moderate injuries and were stabilized on-site by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being taken to local hospitals for additional treatment.
“At this moment, the exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear; however, the SAPS [South African Police Service] is on-site and will initiate an investigation,” Jamieson remarked.
