Kaze Shares Injury Updates on Ighodaro and Other Players

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has shared a positive update regarding the injury situation of newly signed striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who is eagerly awaiting his debut for Amakhosi.

After their win against Kabuscorp in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup’s first preliminary round at FNB Stadium, Kaze announced that the Amakhosi medical team has provided uplifting news about Ighodaro.

“Ighodaro has been nursing an injury, but the medical staff has given us reason to be hopeful,” Kaze stated.

“He has begun training with the team this week, albeit without any physical contact. We anticipate he will be fit to play following the international break.”

The Chiefs coach’s remarks offer comfort to fans who are looking forward to Ighodaro’s first appearance.

The striker is among the recent signings yet to take the field for Amakhosi, whereas Flavio Silva and Khanyisa Mayo have made their mark. Mayo has already scored, and Silva has netted twice, while Ighodaro has been sidelined due to injury.

Despite Kaze’s optimism regarding Ighodaro’s recovery, there are concerns regarding the status of the new players’ registrations for the CAF tournament.

When asked about the availability of Mayo, Lebohang Maboe, and Ighodaro for the upcoming CAF match, Kaze confirmed that none of the three would participate as they are not yet registered for CAF.

“If I recall correctly, I believe Mayo will miss out until the group stage, along with Ighodaro and Maboe,” he noted.

“However, I’m confident that the other players will step up, including Velebayi, and we have Paseko Mako, Thabiso Monyane, and Siphesihle Ndlovu back from injuries, along with Ethan Chislet, who should be ready for the next round.”

Chiefs are preparing to face the winner of the match between DR Congo’s AS Simba and Djabel from Comoros in the next round. The Congolese side secured a 1-0 win in the first leg, and the forthcoming second leg will determine Amakhosi’s opponent for a spot in the group stage.
