Zwane Takes Over as Head Coach of AmaZulu Following Vilakazi’s Exit

AmaZulu has officially appointed Arthur Zwane as the club’s head coach following the confirmed resignation of Vusi Vilakazi due to “significant” personal issues, as reported by Sportswire.

Vilakazi, who served as co-head coach, has resigned immediately, citing personal reasons.

In an official release from AmaZulu, it was noted, “Vilakazi indicated that personal matters require his urgent attention, preventing him from fully committing to his responsibilities at the club.”

Considering the difficult situation, club president Sandile Zungu has accepted Vilakazi’s resignation, effective immediately.

This adjustment leaves Zwane as the sole head coach moving forward.

In his farewell message to Vilakazi, Zungu stated, “On behalf of the entire Usuthu family—players, technical and administrative staff, supporters, and board members—we wish Mpiyakhe all the best in his future endeavors.”

In a discussion with Sportswire, Vilakazi expressed his gratitude for the kind messages he received and promised to return even stronger.

Vilakazi was appointed as co-coach in October of the previous year, moving up from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team to work alongside Zwane.

At the time of their appointment, AmaZulu was at the bottom of the league standings, having lost all three of their initial matches under former coach Pablo Franco Martin.

Zwane will now lead AmaZulu as they prepare to take on Cape Town City, helmed by his former mentor Muhsin Ertugral, in the Betway Premiership at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday (15:30).
