Hammanskraal Residents to Experience Water Supply Disruption as Scheduled
Pretoria – Tomorrow, certain areas in Hammanskraal will face water supply disruptions as technicians carry out the installation of refurbished control valves at the Babelegi Booster Pump Station.
The City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department plans to halt water supply to the Babelegi Reservoir distribution zones of Hammanskraal on Wednesday, (26 February 2025).
“This action is necessary for the city’s technicians to install the refurbished control valves within the Babelegi Booster Pump Station,” stated the City of Tshwane.
“This crucial work is expected to take approximately 10 hours, from 07:00 to 17:00.”
Prior to the shutdown, the inlet and outlet of the reservoir will be closed, causing a disruption in water supply to the following areas:
• Babelegi Industrial Area
• Ramotse
• Mandela Village
• Marokolong
• Kekana Gardens
• Refilwe and Portion 9
In a statement provided to The Bulrushes, the City of Tshwane expressed “sincere apologies for any inconvenience that may arise” due to the water supply interruption.
“Mobile water tankers will be arranged to provide affected residents with water,” the statement continued.
“We urge all residents to conserve water during this period.”
The city encourages residents to help conserve water by adhering to the following guidelines:
• Refrain from watering gardens.
• Avoid washing cars.
• Do not clean driveways or pavements with hosepipes.
• Please do not fill swimming pools.
• Only flush toilets when absolutely necessary.
• Turn off the tap while brushing teeth.
• Minimize daily water usage as much as possible.
