‘The Wife’ star Kwenzo Ngcobo joins ‘Scandal!’

Fan-favourite The Wife actor Kwenzo Ngcobo has joined’s popular soapie, Scandal!.


The award-winning actor Kwenzo Ngcobo will debut on the soapie Scandal! in August, according to entertainment commentator Mlu.

Ngcobo joins the show after the departures of actors Matthews Rantsoma who plays Nhlamulo and Melusi Mbele who played Jojo.

News of Ngcobo joining the show comes after Phil Mphela confirmed on Wednesday, 10 July that the soapie will soon air Monday to Sunday.

“Scandal! to air every day. The soapie is expanding its episode offering. The show will be airing 7 days a week. Brand new episodes will now be broadcast from Mondays to Sundays.”

Scandal! is currently third place on with 3.2 million viewers, according to The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa’s (BRCSA) June figures.

Ngcobo also recently secured the role of Alex Shabane in Netflix’s Soon Comes Night and Zipho in Mzansi Magic telenovela Champions.


The talented actor Kwenzo Ngcobo, who won DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Favourite Rising Star in 2022 reveals to Sowetan that life after The Wife was rewarding and challenging.

“Life after The Wife was quite rewarding and challenging at the same time. I lost my dad shortly after we finished shooting the series last March.”

“I’m the type of person who prefers to keep my things private. I prefer to separate my life from my work… I didn’t want what I was going through to affect my job. I knew I had to bring my A-Game despite what I was going through. “

He adds that he was labelled a difficult actor with diva tendencies, but such a narrative didn’t scare him as he made a thorough introspection and know he was never wrong.

The isiZulu actor also reveals that he is currently in a relationship and very happy.
