Kaizer Chiefs to receive R50 million transfer boost?

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to attack the transfer market as soon as possible, even before appointing a coach.

Chiefs are believed to be close to signing Nasreddine Nabi ahead of the season, with new players on the agenda.

But before Chiefs start looking towards new signings, some big decisions will have to be made on current stars. Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Sifiso Hlanti and Itumeleng Khune are in danger of leaving. This is due to their contracts expiring at the end of the month. There are also other players who may be sold or loaned.

Chiefs looking to rebuild

Players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane are also thought to be at a crossroads at Chiefs. One other player that was mentioned in the same breath earlier last season is defender Zitha Kwinika. Other players who may leave Amakhosi despite not being deemed surplus to requirements are Ashley du Preez and Edson Castillo

Castillo was rumoured to be the subject of interest from Egyptian giants Zamalek during the season. It was reported that Chiefs were willing to sell the player, but for a fee of R40 million initially. It was then updated that the Glamour Boys had dropped their price by R10 million to R30 million. Having started the season well, the Venezuelan international suffered a lot in the second-half of the season under Cavin Johnson. After falling down the pecking order, it is believed the midfielder is unsettled at the club and could agitate for a move.

Castillo and du Preez R50 million to fund transfers?

Most recently, it has been rumoured that Portuguese topflight side Vitoria SC are interested in du Preez. It is believed that they would be willing to pay up to R20 million to Chiefs for the speedster. So when you combine that and the possible R30 million for Castillo from North Africa or the Middle East.

That would see Chiefs getting around R50 million just off two sales, boosting whatever budget they already had. With the increase in funds, it could go a long way in helping the new coach in the squad rebuild. Take it or leave it Amakhosi fans?
