Orlando Pirates are in the market for a new assistant coach. In fact, this is one of their big priorities ahead of the new season.

Orlando Pirates are in the market for a new coach. Sergio Almenara exit has left a vacancy in their technical side.

Interestingly, Pirates have hinted at major coaching changes. Ironically, this is the theme that has hogged the headlines with their rivals, Kaizer Chiefs. So, both Amakhosi and the Bucs will have new faces on the sidelines next season.


Bucs management have prioritized the need to sign a new assistant coach.

“On top of the list, Pirates will be expected to fill the assistant coach role following the departure of Riveiro’s countryman and right-hand man Sergio Almenara at the end of the season,” the insider stated on SoccerLaduma.

Meaning, Pirates will have a new assistant coach next-season. So, what does this mean for the future of Mandla Ncikazi?


Former head coach and current assistant Ncikazi will stay on as second assistant coach to Jose Riveiro.

“A good thing for Bucs though is that the club will still have Mandla Ncikazi who has been the second assistant in Riveiro’s technical team still available after the former Golden Arrows mentor had his contract extended to st least 2026,” the source added on the same publication.

Riveiro will remain head coach, Moreover, Ncikazi will stay as one of the two assistant coaches. As mentioned, this is on top of Pirates list of priorities.
