Broken leg, abdominal fracture: Shebeshxt’s mother gives update
Doctors at the Netcare Pholoso Hospital in Limpopo are still trying to determine the extend of musician Shebeshxt’s injuries.
This is according to the music artist’s mother, Mpho Chauke, who gave Sunday World an update about her son’s state after a car accident on the R37 road next to Smelters Mine in Limpopo on Saturday, 8 June.
SHEBESHXT BROKE HIS LEG IN CAR ACCIDENT
Shebeshxt — real name Lehlogonolo Chauke– suffered a broken leg, an abdominal fracture, and head injuries when his Volkswagen Polo collided with a truck and overturned.
“The doctors are still trying to figure out the extent of the injuries but he went to the theatre this morning. So we should know after that,” his mother explained.
RAPPER’S NINE-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER DIED IN THE CRASH
The Twerka hitmaker was travelling from Polokwane to Lebowakgomo with his daughter, Onthatile Chuene, and his long-time partner, Kholofelo Chuene.
He would have dropped them off at Kholofelo’s house before making his way to perform at an ANC Siyanqoba Rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo. The event was scheduled for Sunday, 9 June.
On various social media platforms, videos of a body of a child went viral.
In one clip, the body can be seen lying covered next to the artist’s damaged vehicle.
Another video shows the musician lying on the ground while paramedics treat his injuries near a stretcher.
In the video, the Dilo Tse Massive rapper’s head and right foot are bandaged as he moans in agony and pleads for water.
SHEBESHXT RECEIVES SUPPORT
In a statement on Monday, the Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) conveyed its condolences to Shebeshxt and his family.
“We cannot imagine the pain and grief they must be experiencing, but we want them to know that they are not alone,” reads the statement.
“The entire artistic community stands in solidarity with them, offering comfort and support. Shebe is not only a talented artist but also a valued member of our creative fraternity.
“We have witnessed his dedication to his craft and his passion for inspiring others through his work. We hope that our collective support will provide some solace during this trying period.”
LAM also revealed that some of its representatives visited Shebeshxt’s family, as well as the musician at the hospital. The organisation also urged other artists and fans to send messages of comfort to the Chauke family.
“Let us rally around them and offer a shoulder to lean on in their time of need. May Shebe’s daughter rest in peace, and may the family find strength in the love and support that surround them.”
