Why Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen wears a mask
Nigerian soccer star, Victor Osimhen has been wearing a mask throughout the Afcon (Africa Cup of Nations). Here’s what happened to him.

WHAT HAPPENED TO VICTOR OSIMHEN?
Bafana Bafana fans noticed that the Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhem wore a protective covering mask.
Sporting News reports that he suffered multiple facial fractures in a game with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in November 2021.
His surgeon said Osimhen needed three plates and six screws to carry out the procedure. The Nigerian player told Wazobia FM via Football Italia that the injury was like near-death injury.
“That injury was like a near-death injury. I am the only one that felt it and I can only speak about how I felt because it was my face and body.”
“When the scan came out, I fractured many bones, which they had to remove and fix inside again. I have, like, 18 screws under my jaw. I went through a lot.”
EWN reports that Afcon hosts, Ivory Coast beat Nigeria 2-1 on Sunday, 11 February Africa Cup of Nations finals.
